New Initiative: "HORIZON EUROPE Calls Youth 2022"

2022 is the European Year of Youth. There will be stepped up efforts to integrate youth priorities into relevant EU policy areas and all EU levels of decision-making.

On the occasion of the European Year of Youth, the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation on April 1st, 2022 launched a new initiative, "HORIZON EUROPE Calls YOUTH 2022". Under this initiative, students are invited to participate as observers in the evaluation of the European Horizon proposals. Applications are open to students currently pursuing a Masters Degree program in any discipline at any university in an EU-member State. Students from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds or from vulnerable groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

The first young observers will be invited to take part in evaluations of Horizon Europe research proposals which will take place from September 2022. The evaluations cover all fields of research in the broadest sense, from the social sciences and humanities, to the natural sciences and engineering.

Young observers will be assigned a mentor from the European Commission to accompany them throughout the evaluation process.
